Lu Wei. California Institute of Technology. Verified email at caltech.edu - Homepage. Bio-imaging Novel nonlinear spectroscopy and microscopy development Chemical November 16, 2018 Caltech's new assistant professor of chemistry Lu Wei is pushing the boundaries of imaging cells. She is developing new spectroscopy and microscopy techniques to track molecules in real time inside cells, and to visualize them in dozens of different colors. New chemistry professor Lu Wei combines the tools of physical chemistry and bioimaging to create new ways to see inside cells. New chemistry professor Lu Wei combines the tools of physical chemistry and bioimaging to create new ways to see inside cells. The work was conducted by researchers from the laboratory of Lu Wei, assistant professor of chemistry, as well as from the Institute for Systems Biology in Seattle and UCLA. It utilizes a technique called Raman spectroscopy in conjunction with its advanced version, stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) microscopy. Lu Wei, assistant professor of chemistry, is also a recipient of an NIH Director's New Innovator Award. Wei works on developing new spectroscopy and microscopy techniques to track molecules in real time inside cells and to visualize them with high precision and information throughput. SPIE Profile of Lu Wei, Caltech. SPIE Profiles is a networking platform for optics and photonics professionals.
